Hello, my name is Hailey. I love dogs and everything about them. Welcome to Golden Ember Training, I can't wait to work with you and your pup. But first, let me tell you a little more about me.
I currently have four dogs, one Golden Retriever and three Brittanys. I fell in love with dogs at a young age, but never knew training was going to be my passion. When I'm not home, you'll most likely find me doing something with my dogs. Some weekends we travel to a field trial or conformation event. Other weekends we spend at home relaxing. No matter where we are, or what we're doing, we're having fun and spending time together.
My Story
Back in 2017 I got my first personal dog, Harlow. She was a four month old Golden Retriever, who needed a lot of training. She was the thing kickstarted my love of dog training. I learned everything I possibly could to set her up for success. She didn't have the ideal puppyhood before I got her. She was never properly socialized during the important developmental stages. I had my work cut out for me.

As she got a little older, I knew she needed more than just regular day to day life. That's when I found out the world of dog sports. We tried agility, dock diving, barn hunt, and so much more. Anything to get her brain and body working. Through this time I was still learning all I could about dog training.

As time went on, I knew I wanted a second dog eventually. After lots of research, I found Brittanys In 2020, right at the start of the pandemic, Ember came home. A Brittany who was full of life and had lots to learn. Now I had the added challenge of training and raising a puppy while the whole world was shut down. It was nowhere near what I had expected or planned, but it was just what I needed. I wasn't going to let COVID ruin everything I planned to do with my new dog.

With lots of time, patience, and dedication, I was able to raise a phenomenal puppy. Once the world slowly started to open back up, we got to try some new sports like conformation and field trials. I fell in love with the sports and Brittanys even more. In between all of this I was still learning all I could about training to be the best trainer I could for not only my dogs, but others as well.
My Training Style
My training is based on what each dogs individual needs. There are lots of different training styles, with fancy names. Instead of telling you the name, I'll tell you more about how I train. I use all four quadrants of training. These include positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment, and negative punishment. What this means is that something is either being given or taken away. I utilize quadrants by using a variety of tools that range from treats, ecollars and everything in between.
All training starts with positive reinforcement, teaching the dog that they get rewarded for doing things correctly. This teaches dogs in a way they want to learn. We do this by treats, along with praise. As dogs understand concepts, we meet them where they're at. For some, this might mean continuing positive reinforcement. For others, it might mean introducing something new. This allows for me to meet each dog with where they are at. Not every dog learns the same way, why would I have a blanket training method for them?
My training is focused on teaching owners how to train their dog. You are the one who lives with them, day in and day out. Training the human enables a better relationship between owner and dog. If you aren't willing to put the work in, neither am I. Unfortunately, dog training isn't as fast as two day shipping, it takes consistent work to meet your goals. I can't wait to meet you and your dog!
